The aim is to remove as many lines as possible. To remove pieces, click a group of at least 3 gems, but keep in mind that it will only remove gems on a horizontal line. So a long vertical line will only remove 1 gem from the group. To pass the level, you have to remove a certain number of lines. Remove the pieces and listen to an obtained melody at the end of level.
